BBC Broadcast Live Online – BBC One and BBC Two

BBC One and BBC Two are to be broadcast live on the Internet from the 27th November 2008.

This means that you’ll not only be able to catch up with BBC TV shows that you’ve missed in the last week by using the BBC’s iPlayer, but you will also be able to use their successful TV streaming and downloads programme to watch BBC One and BBC Two simultaneously as they are broadcast in their traditional forms.

If you’re not a fan of the iPlayer (if not why not?) then you can also watch the live feed of these channels on their respective pages on the BBC website.

This means that from the 27th November, you’ll be able to watch all the BBC’s flagship TV stations (including BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News which are already available online) on the Internet through your computer or portable devices such as mobile phones. The only requirement being that you’re a licence fee payer located within the UK – unfortunately you won’t be able to view the BBC content if you’re out of the country at the time.

I think that the BBC have really done a great job in the last year or two with regards to their approach to Internet services, particularly their TV content, the iPlayer has been really well received and is used by lots of people (not just us techies) to catch shows they’ve missed. By adding new delivery channels to view their quality content, it will really help them to compete with the myriad of digital channels out there and opens up new possibilities.
