Battlestar Galactica: The Movie – A Bryan Singer Remake!

It was only a couple of days ago that a rumour was released about a Battlestar Galactica movie being made. Well……the rumours are frakkin’ true and it’s going ahead!
I personally think this is a complete insult to the TV series. Bryan Singer wanted to do the TV series back in 2001, but that fell through after 9/11 happened and was then picked up by Moore in 2003 who did an amazing job in bringing us the best show on TV…….ever!!
But now, Bryan Singer is going to get his chance of destroying the Battlestar image, by making his version of a film. It will apparently be completely separate from the TV show, which by the way, only finished in April of this year after its 4th season! There’s still one more Battlestar TV film to be aired later this year which is ‘Battlestar Galactica: The Plan’, which shows us the Cylons side leading up to the destruction of the 12 colonies. Then of course, ‘Caprica’ is set to hit our screens next year which is of course a spin off of Battlestar and shows the events 50 years before the Cylons attacked and how the Cylons came about.
I’m personally fuming at this news and feel the people in Hollywood are getting desperate and cashing in on what was an amazing show, and they’re now going to release a crap film.
Why do I think this? Well, how can they do the story in the space of 150-200 minutes? They can’t. If they can’t, what’s the point in making the film at all? They should leave it the frak alone!
After Superman Returns, I don’t have any faith in Singer’s attempts to put Battlestar Galactica on the screen, and of course who the hell is he going to cast? They can’t have any of the cast from Moore’s imagining of BSG, so they’re going to get a cast that are probably A listers and don’t give a crap about what made the show so popular and gave it its cult status.
What are your views on this? Are you just as mad as I am and think this film should never be made? Or are you a Bryan Singer fan and looking forward to his vision of Battlestar Galactica?
