Apple Tablet Update: To Be Named The iSlate?
A week’s a long time in technology, and it’s one hell of a long time when it comes to Apple rumours… Naturally, since 28th December 2009 when we posed the question of the Apple Tablet appearing in 2010?, more rumours have been making their way across the net and a January 26th release looks very likely, even if we still have no idea what the damn thing will be called! There’s quite a few suggestions going around…iTablet, iSlate, iGuide?
In case you’ve taken a break from all the tech news over the holidays (or found a nice home under a rock), Kaifu Lee, Google China’s ex-chief, wrote on his blog that he’d been told by an insider about the device. A lot of what we know seems to be old news, we’ll be looking at pricing in the range of $1000, an iPhone-esque exterior with a 10.1” multitouch screen and a great UI to go with it.
This news comes only a few days after the discovery of a certain ‘iSlate’ URL belonging to Apple, and the rumours don’t look like stopping until Apple finally release the thing. Quite frankly, we’re all tired of the constant rumours flying around the web, so just put us out of our misery Steve!
It’s full steam ahead after CES, so buckle up – it’s going to be one hell of a ride in January 2010, will we really be living in the future then with the potential release of the Apple Tablet….I mean Apple iSlate….but I wonder, would Apple really open themselves up to their new device being “slated”, or is that just too obvious?
Will an Apple Tablet device eventually replace netbooks? Would you buy an Apple Tablet device? Let us know what you think!

Unless you’ve been under a rock this “islate” story has been doing the rounds on the net around three weeks now.
The whole apple tablet thing has been going round the net for years now. very tiresome subject to be honest. In fact i’m so bored of it, it could be the best device ever created and i simply wouldn’t care
@Rob: I agree, the rumours are tiresome, but when something comes up, we can’t ignore it!
@Brendy: Actually, the piece doesn’t just mention ‘iSlate’ which originated just before Christmas Day, but also ‘iGuide’ which only appeared on December 30th – the article was written on December 31st. Don’t kill the messenger :-)
I never thought I’d say it, but I’m actually quite interested in this. It could be a serious contender to the Archos tablet.
I wonder what will be wrong with it..
The latest rumours suggest a January announcement and March release, so we’ll soon find out..
The only thing we know for certain is that it won’t be anything like what we’re expecting – you know Apple!
I would buy it if it wasn’t in such a high price range. Oh yah, by the way, you Mac lovers are only buying the brand when you buy a Mac computer. They are identical to a Windows computer on the inside, so all you’re doing is buying the brand, the case, and the OS. You can get the OS by dual booting on a regular PC for heavens sake! But, with the Apple Tablet (or iSlate), Apple will make itself stand out a little more… Oh, and by the way, the iSlate rumor has been floating around the web for WEEKS.
