Activision Say Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Rumour Is A Hoax

Written by on February 27, 2011 · Filed under Games

call-of-duty-logoEarlier this week we brought you the rumours surrounding the next game in the Call of Duty franchise brought about by the launch of a countdown site at www.findmakarov.com and the release of dog tags to the press with the name Sheperd on them suggested to be the same character that appeared in Modern Warfare 2.

However Activision has announced today that the countdown site is a ‘hoax’ and that there will be no announcement from them regarding the future game in the coming weeks; the result of this fresh information is that its rivals, EA, are now suspected of the hoax as the countdown points to when they are due to reveal Battlefield 3 at GDC.

Activision was quick to release a statement on the subject, with a spokesman saying: “There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project. Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax.” When pushed and asked if there was going to be an announcement next week, the reply was “nope”; EA has refused to comment.

So as of yet we still have no answers and I’ve a feeling we’ll have to wait the few more days to see what happens when it hits zero. Although everybody has their own theory about this new development I personally reckon that despite the COD air this will be an EA operation, but let us know what you think!
