A New Nintendo Handheld Gaming System In Development?

nintendo-logoThis is never going to end is it?

I can’t remember the last time that we’ve had to wait more than 18 months before Nintendo or Sony have announced a newer version of either the DS/DSi or PSP handheld gaming systems. Well it’s Nintendo’s turn………….again.

I love my DS and don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it as I have some really great games for it and there’s still more to come out, or others I haven’t got round to buying yet.

This time around Nvidia will be supplying the technology for Nintendo’s brand new handheld gaming system. With Nvidia on board, does this mean that the new handheld will get a massive graphical overhaul or will Nintendo improve the graphics slightly but stay with the quality of the games rather than how nice they look?

The technology used by Nvidia will be called Tegra which is also known as their “system-on-a-chip device”.

Tegra has been used before in other devices such as Zune HD which was brought to us by Microsoft and it should give the new handheld, whatever it may be called, a ‘significant upgrade’.

Hopefully the style of the games will stay the same and we’ll still have to use a stylus and have to look at dual screens. But what if Nintendo go for a digital handheld like the PSP Go? I highly doubt that though seeing as though the PSP Go has been getting a lot of mixed opinions across the gaming community.

I’m quite excited to see what Nintendo come up with next because of the DS is anything to go buy, I think we’re going to be seeing something really special, perhaps handheld gaming is really being taken seriously?

What do you think? Are you excited by the sound of Nintendo’s new handheld gaming system or could it be just another farce?
