5 Secret Santa Gadget Present / Gift Ideas Under £5 (2009)
Well it’s that time of year again at work, the Christmas tree and decorations get put up and bring a bit of festive cheers to the usual proceedings of a day in the office, people are planning for the Christmas party and of course, hopefully one of the more organised people are planning a Secret Santa gift giving system, much Firebox’s Global Secret Santa, but obviously on a much smaller scale!
Anyway, Secret Santa is always a good idea in my opinion as it saves racking your brains for presents for several different people, so you you’re just let stuck with finding one perfect office gift and usually for a wallet-friendly budget price, so here’s a few ideas from Zath for you to ponder over!
LockLite Keyring Torch
If you’ve ever arrived home during the night, perhaps after a drink or two, you will know how difficult it can be, after arriving at your door, to find where to put your key. Silly as it sounds now you’re sober, it is true.
So, here’s a little solution. The LockLite is an extremely simple device which you can attach to your key that transforms it into a mini torch. It has a powerful LED light which is activated by pressing the circular button which fits to the head of most keys and it can light up a lock up to 5 metres away.
It’s easy to fit, just slip any round key into the frame and fit the rest on top. It’s a great idea for a secret Santa gift especially for friends who you are sure will drink too much at New Year. The LockLite is just £4.95 from Firebox.

Screaming Flying Monkey
Sounds hilarious, doesn’t it? The superhero monkey could be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen this year. With elastic hands that when stretched and released, catapult the monkey through the air up to 25ft to the sound of a deafening, very un-hero like scream. Hero’s don’t scream, they yell… heroically. But none-the-less. It’s an extremely entertaining monkey.
When it’s not hurling through around the office, it removes its mask and transforms into a cute and cuddly monkey like any other soft toy.
It might be a little eccentric, but it’s only £4.95 from Firebox.com, so would make a great gift this Christmas.

iBend iPhone Stand
The iBend iPhone Stand is an extremely simple, featureless, but fun stand for your iPhone or iPod touch. There isn’t a lot to say about it really other than commenting its ease of use. All you need to do is grab the lightweight vinyl stand and bend it into shape, then rest your iPhone or iPod Touch in the groove to secure it in place. After that, you can sit back and watch movies, slideshows or music videos.
It provides the perfect viewing angle for most sitting positions and is totally portable as when not in use, it’s simply a flat, thin piece of vinyl that you can stow away in your pocket or bag.
For just £4.99 from Firebox.com you can get a pack of two classic iBend designs if you don’t care about fun aesthetics, however for the novelty pairings of owls or moustached faces, you pay an extra £2. Not bad at all. Get one for your iPhone carrying friends!

CyberClean
CyberClean is probably the most innovative and useful products on this list. The flubbery goo sneaks its way in between the keys on your keyboard or your mobile phone and snatches out all the dust, dirt and bits of fluff that stands in its way.
The neon yellow putty features some fairly impressive technology. For example, it changes colour to let you know when it needs replacing, but the most impressive of all is its ease of use. Just slap it onto the gadget and give it a good squeeze. Just seconds later peel it away and you’re left with a germ free, gadget with no sticky residue.
It is available in two different sizes, either a sachet of putty for £4.99 or a pot of the stuff for £7.99 from IWOOT.com. So if you want to drop a subtle hint to one of your friends that their keyboard is full of mess, then drop it anonymously with a cheap Secret Santa gift!

Emergency Mobile Phone Charger
You could call it a battery to gadget adapter as that is really all it is. But it’s a fantastic product which is handy for any occasion. It is barely bigger than a single AA battery so you can slip it in your pocket or bag and you won’t notice it until you need your mobile phone or iPod charging whilst you’re on the move.
It isn’t compatible with every phone in the world, but it does fit any iPod or iPhone. The total charge time is identical to that of charging from the mains and it can give you up to 2 hours extra talk time. You can find the list of compatible gadgets on IWOOT.com.
Made from strong aluminium and it turquoise in colour so it isn’t an ugly device at all. Simply insert one AA battery to the device along with one of the adapters supplied to begin charging your mobile phone/iPod.
Okay, so this one is just over £5 being priced at £6.99 from IWOOT.com, but I’m sure there’s plenty of office-based people who would find this is a perfect gift this Christmas. You may want one for yourself whilst you’re at it. A fantastic little device!
