5 Great Reasons For Adobe Air Applications
Adobe AIR, a cross-platform base for developers to…well…develop their applications. The majority of apps boast a neat user interface (UI) and are very effective. It’s free, and it runs on Windows, OS X and Linux. Surely a must for any developers or home users looking for great apps with great functionality.
With that in mind, here’s 5 great Adobe Air applications…
Twhirl
For all you twit-addicts out there, there’s lots of Twitter clients or applications out there, but this is one of the best, Twirl is a simple application that allows you to update your twitter page as well as several other popular social networking sites. It’s an easy to use app with a simple yet effective and efficient UI. Some of the features that caught my attention were the ability to post video to twitter just moments after capture using Seesmic Video. Another, and perhaps the most important for me, is that unlike other Adobe AIR apps for these sites, it recognises URL’s and posts as links without a problem.

eBay Desktop
A wonderful eBay app that does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s eBay in a very simple, very easy to use desktop app. Browse through the site looking for bargains or just manage your account. Personally, I much prefer using this eBay Desktop app with its straightforward UI over the site itself.

Flickroom
A beautiful application for posting images to your Flickr page with just one click. It’s so simple, just drag your image into the app window and it automatically uploads to your account in seconds. Flickroom also makes it easy to browse Flickr for any other images you may require. It really is the best all round desktop Flickr app that I’ve come across.

Splashup Light
An image editing application that admittedly doesn’t stack up to the likes of Photoshop or GIMP in terms of features, but the simple UI makes it much easier and much more fun to use. Many great features to enhance, resize, blur, sharpen, saturate, sepia, colorize or remove red-eye from your images. Splashup Light loads from and saves to a variety of formats and even gives you the option to choose the quality. Though, I’m not sure why anyone would settle for less than 100%

Analytics Reporting Suite for Google Analytics
For the business statistician, the popular program from Google allows you to monitor website traffic for your blog/site and your market effectiveness. Surely a great choice for anyone running a blog or site for any reason whether it personal or professional, perhaps even this Hi-Tech Gadgets site in the form of Zath! Analytics Reporting Suite app gives you all that power, but from your desktop. Yet again, with a great UI is very easy to use.

Great set of apps! I have been using Flickroom and Twhirl and must say they certainly beat the Flickr and Twitter WEB experience hands down!
Very slick UI and great user experience overall!

I use eBay desktop quite often, and find it great as a buyer, but I find it has very limited functionality for people selling items on eBay compared to what the site offers. Nice list list though!

i have had that problem myself on ebay desktop and i found it quite annoying but for buying i would never browse the site itself anymore. Flickroom was brilliant for the short time i used flickr but it really served me no purpose. I loved the app though just needs a little tweaking.

I’ve been looking for a basic image editor and downloaded Splashup. Great suggestion!
I love Air for Spaz, been using it for Twitter for over a year.
