5 Christmas Gadget Present / Gift Ideas For Mum (2009)
Now it’s mum’s turn. Find the perfect fun gifts for your mother this Christmas. She does all the wrapping and the majority of the shopping for almost everyone in the family, so don’t forget it when you’re dipping into your Christmas savings for this year’s top gadget gifts.
The Slanket
Available from Firebox.com for just under £30, is The Slanket. Basically, an extra warm, extra long dressing gown/blanket. Perfect for staying warm and comfortable whilst performing simple tasks like sipping your steaming mug of coffee or switching over or off during the queen’s speech (god forbid any such thought would cross your mind). It is available in several different colours although I would avoid the beige or the brown if you’re not 100% convinced your mother really wants to look like a jedi yeti this Christmas. The Slanket really is a great gift for any mum.

Electronic Mooncandles
Actually the ultimate gift for my mum. There’s nothing like a hot bath, listening to your favourite whale song and relaxing with the crisp white snow drifting past the window at Christmas… yeah right. But here is a gift that could really set the mood this year. Remote control candles! Available from iwantoneofthose.com for again, £30. They glow like any normal candles minus the oozing wax and the potential fire hazard. From the remote control you can choose between two brightness settings as well as 4 or 8 hour light. On one model there is an option to change the colour of the glow from the remote control. Sound’s perfect.

Sound Asleep Pillow
The perfect gift for anyone who has trouble drifting off on those long winter nights. As comfy as any ordinary pillow. In fact, the Sound Asleep Pillow can be just that if when so choose, or you could attach the removable audio jack, plug in your mp3 player and drift off with the soothing sound of music oozing out from between the sheets. So much for a silent night, have a relaxing sounds night instead. You can pick this up for just £18 from Firebox.com. A truly must-have gift.

Hot Polar Bear
In my experience there really is nothing like going to bed with a polar bear. Especially one, which is 30cm long and stuffed with microwaveable wheat. A removable wheat bag inside a pouch in his belly can be placed in the microwave for a lasting warm feeling that will send you to sleep in comfort. Taking a quote from iwantoneofthose.com, ‘particularly gratifying when the alternative is a cold shoulder or has a headache’. Perhaps a little harsh but for £10 at iwantoneofthose.com he’s a bargain. How can anyone resist that fuzziness?

Penguin USB Flash Drives
There are so many varieties of USB flash drives around these days but these flip-top penguin USB memory sticks from Firebox.com are undeniably cute. Perfect for any lady who would like a neat place to carry their files around whilst still looking adorable. The 4GB variety only comes in grey or black but reduce it to the 2GB version and you can have your very own Santa penguin for just £15.

So I hope I have helped you find something fun for those special people in your life this Christmas, be sure to check out the our other Christmas gift guides for 2009 below and best wishes to everyone this year. Merry Christmas!

I recall the slanket making an appearance in the big bang theory at the end of season 2 as well… amazing episode!

Surely the Slanket isn’t a gadget?! It’s only a blanket with sleeves!
The others are cool though – can imagine that pillow will cause many a row between couples with mis-matched sleep patterns! (but rowing over presents is part of the magic of Christmas, isn’t it?!)

What would really be interesting is a present for the mum-in-law. I like the idea of a Slanket….zzzzzzzzzz
