3M’s Post-It Shopping Genius Widget ReleasedWritten by Rob Nichols on July 5, 2010 · Filed under Software
To mark the 25th anniversary of the original Post-It note, 3M are introducing a new online service called the Post-It Shopping Genius Widget.
It pretty much combines two of our recent favourite online applications here on Zath; Evernote allows you to simply quickly take notes and clippings on various places around the web and you may remember, we covered a brilliant web browser add-on called InvisibleHand, which compares prices from popular online stores and gives you details on the lowest.
The 3M Post-It Shopping Genius Widget brings you the best of both worlds with this new widget-based shopping service.
Of course, on Windows 7 and Mac OS X alike there are various ways to make notes. Heck, you can even do it on your iPhone/iPod Touch, but Post-it Notes Shopping Genius not only allows you to take clippings up to 5 items on your shopping list from around the web, it provides several other key features which set it apart from the competition.
For starters, the layout is clear providing you with a small image, a name and a price for your desired item. Then, it compares the prices of the item from around the web and gives you the lowest available from reputable stores. The widget then continues to scour the web for changes in price and constantly updates you with the latest sales and prices.
The application is available in various forms. First and foremost it is a desktop widget compatible with Windows or OS X. If you are the ‘clean desktop’ sort, then you may prefer the iGoogle alternative, which takes pride of place on your Google homepage.
The Post-It Shopping Genius Widget from 3M is certainly a fantastic application that I am now making use of it myself as my list of wants further exceeds my bank balance. It is free and will no doubt make your online shopping a great deal easier.
