2.3 Billion Hours of Gaming?

That’s how much time has been spent playing games on Xbox Live by it’s 6 million subscribers.

It does make think about a few things, like just how far online gaming has come in the last few years…or you could think about how all these people could have better spent their time on more productive things - just kidding, I’m a gamer at heart, how else could the time have been spent??? ;)

The top ten games played are as follows:

1. Halo 2
2. Gears of War
3. Hexic HD
4. Call of Duty 2
5. Ghost Recon 3
6. Call Of Duty 3
7. Oblivion
8. PGR3
9. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas
10. Perfect Dark Zero

What surprises me (as someone who has never played it admittedly) is that Halo 2, an original Xbox game is the number 1 game on the Xbox 360 - it must be good!

Anyway, more details on this fact and lots of other Xbox 360 related stats can be found be found over at Hexus.

    W00t! 2.5 billion hours!
    That’s a lot yo!

Hmm… I am not sure about myself, perhaps I can do a rough estimate.

I have started gaming since 1990, the year is 2008, say we count the years from 1990 till 2007, we get 18 years.

Average 365.25 days per year, get about 6575 days.

Say I game for an average of 5 hours per day we get 32,875 hours. (Nowadays my gaming hours is around 1 hour per day, in the past I have gamed for more than 10 hours per day)

No where even close to 2.5 billion of hours!!!!!

These days I’m lucky to game for an hour a day, usually amounts to a quick stint on World of Warcraft, but I’m certainly trying to make time for the big games that I really like and perhaps skipping other games which aren’t really worth my time.

The big game on my “to play” list is the Orange Box on my desktop PC (once fixed) - there’s only one Gordon Freeman!
