Half Life Radio Phone-In

February 26, 2008

Half Life 2 - Gordon FreemanOne of the great things about Half Life has always been the way in which you often get to see the story from different points of view, especially with the expansion packs for the original game.

Well with that in mind, take a look at this video of Gordon Freeman calling into a radio call-in show before the incident that happened at Black Mesa in the original Half Life – you’ve got watch out for these kind of signs, it never bodes well!

Fraggle Rock Plush Toys

February 25, 2008

Fraggle Rock Plush ToysI used to watch Fraggle Rock all the time as a kid back in the 80s – though I didn’t have any Fraggle Rock toys at the time. Recently I started looking up some of these old shows for nostalgia purposes after watching the ‘Do You Remember the 80s‘ video I posted a while back and these were one of the shows I found.

The Path of Zath – Volume 9

February 24, 2008

1. I’m someone who is finding that he’s been plagued by junk! I’m now making real efforts to reduce the amount of clutter that I have and more importantly stop buying it in the first place when I don’t have anywhere to put it!

2. I like my movies and as such I found this guide to the movie sequels of 2008 an interesting read, there’s plenty of films I’m looking forward to seeing this year, how about you?

3. As you may have figured out from some of my previous posts, I’ve always been a fan of Lego ever since I was a little kid and spent hours building stuff with it, so that being the case as well as being an avid viewer of the Stargate shows, this Lego Stargate really appealled to me!

Blu-Ray Wins Format War

February 20, 2008

Well Blu-Ray has officially won the high definition disc format war over HD-DVD!

The writing was on the wall last month when Warner Bros announced that they’d only be supporting Blu-Ray after May 2008 (Sony paid a lot for this commitment from them), given that they sell between 20-30% of all DVDs, that’s a huge chunk of the market! That was followed by the literal silence from the HD-DVD camp at the recent electronics shows, so it’s now no real surprise to hear that HD-DVD is now officially discontinued.

Writers’ Strike Over

February 15, 2008

Writers StrikeThe Writers’ Strike in America is now over! It’s taken around 3 months to resolve the situation which has left this year’s American TV shows all over the place, so where does that leave us?

It’s good news that this has been resolved for the writers, but the viewers have been left with scraps in terms of their favourite TV shows with many of them having cut-short their seasons. They’ve either just stopped mid-season in the case of many (hoping to see out the strike and get back to it), drawing a line on what was to be covered (Heroes stopping at the end of Volume 2 instead of the planned 3 this year) or having their story squashed into fewer episodes such as the case of Prison Break.

I don’t think you’re an open book to people just from the type of games you play, I mean just because I, Simon Barker play a Grand Theft Auto game, that doesn’t necessarily make me a threat to society does it? Despite what certain people would have you know about games such as these.

Tower of Terror (Disney Land)

February 10, 2008

Disney Tower of Terror RideI’ve been thinking about visiting Disneyland Paris, one of the rides there is called ‘The Twilight Zone: The Tower of Terror’ which is based upon the TV show; The Twilight Zone and takes it’s theme from the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel.

The ride itself transports passengers into a simulation of a phantom lift that shoots up the liftshaft and then plummets back down – this kind of sounds like one of the rides in Blackpool, but only done a lot better.
