24 Season 7 Trailer

October 28, 2007

24-logo24 is a highly entertaining TV show about a Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent named Jack Bauer who…unsurprisingly tries to stop terrorists, but in real-time, ie. each of it’s past 6 seasons happens over the course of one full day!

As you’re probably aware by now, I’m a big fan of some of the quality American TV dramas that us viewers are being spoilt with in recent years, in fact in my opinion they’re far better quality in than the vast majority of movies being produced!

The Path of Zath – Volume 5

October 28, 2007

http://www.sternestmeanings.com/ – Enter some text into the box and it gives you an anagram! “Simon Barker” becomes “I’m rare knobs!”

http://www.kottke.org/remainder/07/10/14235.html – I think it’s your turn to take out the rubbish – I’ll do it next time!

http://soccerlens.com/what-football-manager-08-taught-me-about-steve-mcclaren-and-england/3685/ – As a recovering Football Manager addict myself, comparing Steve McClaren’s attempt at being England manager to the mighty Football Manager 2008 game highlights the fact you should play the players that play best as a “team” rather than neceassarily playing your “best players”.

Xbox 360 Bargain – ‘Halo 3′ – Should I Buy It?

October 21, 2007

Halo 3Well I’ve still not played any of the Halo games yet, but given everyone seems to rave about Halo and the Master Chief, I’m guessing I really should check out what all the hype is about – which I’m intending to do when I see Halo 3 on Xbox 360 for a suitably cheap bargain price!

Smartphone Review? Orange E650 or Nokia N95?

October 20, 2007

The Orange E650 is my current smartphone mobile (which is actually an Orange-branded HTC S710) which I’ve had for around 6 months now and am half way through my current contract and thought I’d try and summarise my feelings about it.

Orange E650

Normally when I get a new toy (gadget), I’m really pleased with it and want to play with it, however in this case, there was just something about it that didn’t impress me and was considering sending it back, perhaps because it was so much more chunkier than my previous Orange C500 smartphone.

I persevered with it due to it’s increased features over my old mobile and it’s really grown on me, particularly the slide-out QWERTY keyboard which makes text input so easy, also the PC synchronisation with Microsoft Outlook is really helping to organise me much better as I can sometimes be a procrastinator if I allow things to overwhelm me.

Battlestar Galactica Season 4 Trailer

October 16, 2007

Battlestar Galactica is currently another of my favourite TV shows, it’s a re-make of the show of the same name from the 70′s, but the updated version brings with it gritty storytelling that really shines by tackling some very relevant and thought-provoking issues from our society – while being set in a futuristic armada of spaceships (lead and protected by the Battlestar Galactica) on the run from machines that have all but destroyed their civilization!

The next season will be BSG’s 4th and final season, so I’m expecting we should get plenty of action and revelations. Anyway, while waiting for it to start in January 2008, take a look at the Battlestar Galactica Season 4 trailer that has been released.

The Path of Zath – Volume 4

October 13, 2007

http://www.custompc.co.uk/news/601283/opinion-phil-vs-bioshock.html# – an interesting alternative perspective of the recently acclaimed Bioshock game, although having only played the demo so far (on Xbox and PC) I’m not sure I’d agree with all this critcism.

http://cybernetnews.com/2007/09/14/google-sponsors-robotic-race-to-the-moon/ – the multi-million prize that was on offer for getting a private vehicle into space and back has led to Virgin Galactic being formed and pushing space tourism, let’s hope that continues with this prize that Google are offering, let’s get back to the moon!

Do You Remember The 80′s? (Video)

October 10, 2007

I’m sure you’ve all seen the usual emails that go round saying what you might remember if you grew up in the 70′s, 80′s or 90′s. However, this is the first time I’ve seen this kind of video put together that basically asks, ‘do you remember these things if you grew up in the 80′s or early 90′s?’.

Futurama Returns in Futurama: Bender’s Big Score!

October 8, 2007

Futurama is returning in ‘Futurama: Bender’s Big Score’ dvd! In a recent post I wrote about the Simpsons (specifically the Simpsons’ World of Warcraft episode) I mentioned that my preferred show from Matt Groening would have to be Futurama, if only because it appeals to the geek in me!

I mean with Futurama you have the great comedy style of the Simpsons, but with a lot of the humour centring around science fiction and dare I say, Futurama has a few more subtle, intellectual jokes contained within – perhaps in that sense it’s the Frasier to the Simpsons’ Cheers!

Football Manager 2008 Demo

October 1, 2007

Football Manager 2008I recently wrote about a PC game bargain, the new Football Manager 2008 game, which is the latest evolution of a great game over a decade in the making and refining of – I didn’t get to play the 2007 version much at all (despite it being sat on my game-shelf all year), but am planning on having a return to form with this, the 2008 incarnation.

If you haven’t already got your Football Manager 2008 pre-orders placed, now you can play the demo that has been released today to help you make up your mind – as if any true football fan needed to even play a demo of these games before committing to a game purchase!
