Xbox 360 Messenger Kit
Way back in April I wrote about Microsoft had announced a forthcoming Xbox 360 Messenger Kit - a QWERTY keyboard attachment for the Xbox 360 controllers. Well the time has finally come that these nifty little gadgets will be released here in the UK which also come with a very cool wireless headset.

MSN Messenger integration has been on Xbox for around 4 months now since the Spring ‘07 Dashboard Update, which I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve not really bothered trying to use since trying to type out messages using an Xbox controller is far worse than a mobile - so this backlit keyboard attachment should definitely come in handy if you get messaged while on your cheap Xbox 360, you can even type in the dark with it!
The cheapest bargain price I’ve found for the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit is a rather reasonable price of £24.99 including delivery, I’ve seen it up to £30 at most other places online and on the high street.
Xbox 360 Messenger Kit - £24.99

Received my newest keyboard yesterday!….the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit seems to be a useful addition to my Xbox wireless controller, easily plugged whenever it’s needed, plus the included headset - not a bad bargain at all!
I’m sure other manufacturer’s would have been tempted to do something like this as a replacement controller entirely and charge a lot more for it?
Hrm, did these ever become popular and is the functionality usable within gameplay? Or is it just a gimmick? How often to you find yourself chatting via Live Messenger with this controller?
Well…I guess it depends exactly what you’re doing, obviously if you’re in the middle of fast paced game, you won’t be stopping to chat to somebody on MSN, but having the ability to chat with friends while playing on your Xbox is a nice ability to have, even if you don’t use it all the time.
What do other people think? Do you do a lot of messenging on your QWERTY keyboard messenger kit attachment?
